What's in it for you:

Networking: Student MEA-MFT helps you tap into a professional network of educators: practicing teachers and college professors at the local, state, and national levels.

Student loan assistance program: The 2017 Montana Legislature chose not to fund the Quality Educator Loan Assistance Program. Please contact your local legislators and request that they make funding this program a priority in 2019!

Million-dollar protection: Many schools require you to be covered by liability insurance when you student teach. As a member of Student MEA-MFT, you'll be covered by our million-dollar liability insurance policy every time you step into a classroom on assignment.

Helping you teach your best: Student MEA-MFT helps you become a well-informed professional teacher through top-quality workshops; conferences; publications; web sites; and professional materials for classroom teachers from our national affiliates, NEA and AFT.

Get your money's worth: Your membership entitles you to special member benefits.

Get your money back. Your Student MEA-MFT dues money serves as a credit toward membership in MEA-MFT when you begin teaching. Plus, during your first year of teaching and regular NEA membership, you'll receive a $20 rebate from NEA for each year of student membership. That means you may receive more money back than you paid in dues as a student!  You'll find information about the NEA rebate and the rebate form here.
(Click on "Download the rebate form")

You're part of the family. When you join Student MEA-MFT, you also join:

  • The 18,000 members of MEA-MFT,

  • The 3.2 million members of the National Education Association (NEA), and

  • The 1.2 million members of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

Together, we work to promote excellence in public education, help teachers succeed in their profession, and provide good working conditions for teachers and good learning conditions for children.

Your contact at MEA-MFT: Your Student MEA-MFT state coordinator is Lauren Caldwell, staff member at MEA-MFT.
