Action taken. The PPC recommends MEA-MFT:

1. Introduce bill to reimburse public employees for costs associated with certifications/licensure for job and for conferences required by program/grant program.

New Business Item

Action:  MEA-MFT shall cause legislation to be introduced that will authorize state employee reimbursement of travel/lodging/transportation/registration for training required for job or conferences required by program/grant.

Rationale:  State employees currently pay out-of-pocket to do this stuff.

(New Business Item #2, 2010 Representative Assembly, March 26-27)

2. Prepare constitutional amendment for additional non-K-12 vice president to be voted on by non-K-12 members.

(Ruled out of order – conflict with federal law and AFT Constitution, January 20, 2010)

Constitutional Amendment

Authorize election of additional MEA-MFT vice president representing non K-12/certified to be elected solely by non K-12/certified members.

Rationale: Increase the voice of non K-12 members in MEA-MFT.
